Tryouts for the 2015-2016 Vandegrift Swim & Dive Team happen Tuesday, July 14th.  Remember: Spots on our team will be earned, not given.  Come ready to earn YOUR spot.

Please read the information below, as some of it has changed due to the large number of people trying out. Parents are allowed to watch and attend, but must stay behind the gate during tryouts.

NEW to the Team:
-All incoming 9th grader and any all individuals who has never been a part of the team, regardless of times.
-Tuesday, July 14th at 6:00am - approximately 7:30am (you may stay to watch the second part of tryouts)
-Bella Mar Pool in Steiner Ranch

RETURNING to the Team:
-All incoming 10th - 12th grader who has been a part of the VHS Swim & Dive team.
-Tuesday, July 14th at 7:30am - approximately 9:00am (you may come earlier to watch the first part of tryouts)
-Bella Mar Pool in Steiner Ranch
**For those with sectionals cuts, you will still attend tryouts, but you do not need to get in the water. If for some reason you can not make it to tryouts, please contact Coach Davies immediately**


Athletic Physicals:
Everyone is required to have an athletic physical and required forms for tryouts. You can turn them in electronically or bring them to tryouts and I will turn them in to the athletic trainers.

What should I bring to tryouts?
-A swimsuit, cap, goggles, towel, and a change of clothes. I will provide any necessary equipment.

What will be expected of me at tryouts?
-You will arrive and sign up. We will warm up and then complete the test set of 10x100s and then a few time trials. You will self select your lane based on the interval. The lane you choose you must stay in the entire time. You will be evaluated based on the number of 100s you complete, the interval you chose, and your time for the time trials.

How many people make the team?
-The team will consist of approximately 20 girls and 20 boys plus divers. Coach will make the final decision.

When will I know if I've made the team?
-I will notify those athletes who did not make the team, via phone, no later than 5:00pm the day of tryouts.

What happens if I don't make the team?
-I will notify the counselors and they will change your schedule before school starts. They do not return until July 20th, so it will not happen until after that date.
